Ground Beef Sauce with Bell Pepper and Blue Cheese
There are so many different ways to make a ground beef sauce. I almost never make it the same way twice. A while ago, I made one with carrots. Today I cooked a version I once learned while working — this time with bell pepper and blue cheese.
I don’t have a precise recipe because I just went by feeling, but here’s roughly how I made it:
Ground Beef Sauce with Bell Pepper and Blue Cheese
You’ll need:
Ground beef
Onion
Bell pepper
Salt and pepper
Water
Tomato purée
A little ketchup
A piece of blue cheese (to crumble in)
How I made it:
Brown the onion and ground beef in a pan.
Add the chopped bell pepper.
Season with salt and pepper.
Pour in a bit of water, add tomato purée and a squeeze of ketchup, and let it simmer gently.
Finish by adding small crumbles of blue cheese and let it melt into the sauce.
The blue cheese gives a creamy, slightly tangy flavor that goes so well with the sweetness of bell pepper. Easy, quick, and a nice change from the usual meat sauce.
Serving suggestion
This sauce is delicious with pasta, rice, or even mashed potatoes. If you want something fresh on the side, a simple green salad or sliced cucumber works really well to balance the creamy blue cheese flavor.
